Cravings

Lately I have been craving anything crunchy. Of course not healthy crunchy things like celery but crunchy things like this....
Of course I still have a constant craving for anything that contains sugar like this...

I think my baby may be born addicted to sugar at the rate I have been going!

Also, I know I have been slacking on the belly photos. They have been taken just not posted. I have been busy with baby showers and moving so I promise there will be more to come but to keep you until the next one here is a photo of me, Genevieve and Meredith at Meredith's baby shower on Sunday.
Well I guess I have procrastinated enough (at least until lunch)...so I better get to unpacking the upstairs.

26 weeks and furniture arriving

In honor of the world cup here I am 26 weeks and 4 days pregnant in my soccer shorts and tank...mostly because it is to hot in my house to wear anything else. That won't be a problem for long though!
We had an appointment on Monday and I have gained yet another 6 pounds. I officially weight more than I ever have in my life and the doctor is very pleased with my weight gain so we are doing well. Aubrie's heartbeat was strong and everything else was good too. We have finally made it to the point were we start to go more often. My next appointment is in 3 weeks and at that point they will give me the glucose test (I haven't heard very good things about the drink.) Hopefully I pass it with flying colors so I don't have to do it again.

We have finally started to receive all of our big purchases. Our furniture came in this week and we are going to pick it up on Sunday. I am very excited to finally have it. It makes it all that much more real. Also just in time for the new house so that movers have to get the massive dresser upstairs and not us!

Our stroller also came in this week. I went and picked it up yesterday and couldn't be happier with it. It is so easy to use and looks great...but it will look even better with little Aubrie in it! Here is our stroller. Once she gets a little bigger there is an actual stroller seat for her but for now the car seat is all she will need.
I also got my diaper bag this week. I found the exact bag I was looking for on ebay (brand new) in the exact pattern I was looking for. I saved quit a bit of money getting it off ebay than buying it directly from Vera Bradley. I think it is really cute and not super duper girly so maybe Gil won't mind it as much...
Hopefully next time I post I will have a few pictures of Aubrie's room! Less than 2 weeks now till I will have a room to call completely hers!

The Bump & Baby Showers

25 weeks! I definitely think I have gotten bigger in the past few days. I am starting to notice that I am doing things as I normally would but get stuck because there is a baby bump in my way.

I finally decided to go shopping for some maternity clothes...which turned out to just be frustrating. Apparently they don't make maternity clothes for a petite pregnant woman in Hawaii. I managed to find several non-maternity shirts that just happen to be longer so they will work for now and I will still be able to wear them after; still no shorts though. I am going to try one other store either today or tomorrow and hopefully I will be able to find something that isn't 10 times my size.

This is me at 25 weeks and 1 day in one of my new shirts.
I went to my first baby shower of the season. Gil's old Staff Sergeant's wife (Sarah) is due at the beginning of August she is the second of many women due to deliver in the coming months. Her friends threw her a beautiful baby shower with all homemade food and some great games. It was really helpful to go and see what they did because it gave us all sorts of ideas for Meredith's and my upcoming showers.

The cupcakes and cake were adorable and really delicious!

Next up Meredith's baby shower. I better get to work on it!

6 MONTHS!

I can't believe it has been 6 months! Which means there are only 3 left! I seems to have gone by so fast. A part of me hopes that it continues to go fast so that the time just flies until we meet Aubrie and a part of me is worried it will seem to go to fast and we won't get everything done. I know that we will but the first 6 months went by so fast it just makes me wonder how fast the last 3 months will go by.

So, I haven't been the greatest at posting a weekly picture and when talking to a friend this weekend I told her it is usually because I spend my days in pj's. But then I figured I should document that because...well when it comes down to it that is what I have looked like most of the pregnancy. I very rarely put real clothes on. Real clothes only are put on when I have to leave the house and they aren't put on till the very last minute before we leave.

So far I haven't had to buy any maternity wear. I have mostly worn dresses when I leave the house but my little bump is finally getting to big for the tanks that I live in! This is what I look like most days and usually the tank just keeps riding up. Once again though; don't worry I don't go out in public looking like this but I thought it was only right to document the real day to day outfits.

We have gotten a lot done lately and even more exciting we just got word that we have a new house that we will be moving into in July so I will be able to set up Aubrie's room before she gets here. We recently ordered our crib and dresser and we will be ordering our rocker soon and all of it including our stroller should arrive in the next few weeks.

My mom has also been very busy making all sorts of goodies for Aubrie. She is going to be the most stylish little girl with handmade bibs, burp clothes and blankets from her Grandma.

Our next doctors appointment is on the 21st so I will update after that.

Week 20 & 21

I had promised a few to get this up by Friday...which obviously didn't happen but to make up for that this one is going to do double duty; two belly pics last weeks and this weeks. Which will also make it easier to see how much I have grown...if any.

We had an appointment last week and it went really well. I gained some weight so the doctor said I am back on track weight wise, so that is good. I am glad I don't have to hear them tell me that I am way under weight. Not only did I gain some weight but Aubrie grew like a weed in the month that we last had an appointment. Last month she was 5 days behind where I was gestationally and this time she was actually 5 days ahead!

So we are both doing well. She is kicking like CRAZY and getting stronger! We haven't done many other baby things. We did buy our stroller...which was on back order but it should be in, in one to two weeks. I am going to go chair/glider shopping probably in June when Gil is gone. I think I have narrowed it down to two chairs but we will see when I go check them out again.

Finally here is my belly picture from last week (20 weeks and a few days)
This one was taken today...21 weeks and a few days
I told you last time about a gift we received from Gil's parents. We/I opened it the second Gil walked through the door. It was this adorable basket full of things embroidered with Aubrie's name. There was a bath robe, towel and a little bear among other things. It is really cute and from Paris! She is already a chic baby!
I hope you all have a great week leading up to Memorial weekend and a nice relaxing long weekend.

Baby Kicks & Bump Shot

Last Tuesday, the 4th of May, was the first time that I definitively knew that it was Aubrie kicking me! It was 2am and I had gotten up to go to the bathroom. When I got back in bed I felt all of these thuds, one right after the other. Since then she hasn't stopped. She seems to be very active at night and whenever I am laying down. She has gotten stronger since then and I can't wait for Gil to get home tomorrow for him to feel it for the first time.

We have our next appointment on Friday and I am excited to see how much she has grown as well as me! Each time we go in we are just hoping I have gained enough weight to please the doctors. If my growing belly is any indication I think I will be fine!

The following photo is from my point of view. I am now 20 weeks-ish...depending on who's calculations you go by. Either way I am roughly 20/21 weeks.
My growing bump!
I ordered some bumgenius diapers a few weeks ago because there was a website having a promotion where if you spent $15 you got a free one. So I got my first reusable diapers this weekend. Aren't they cute!? The yellow one is an xs and I can't wait to have little Aubrie to put in it and the pink one is a one size fits all, so it will grow with her. I am excited to see how much do or don't like them.
Tomorrow Gil gets home and we get to open the package we got from his parents. It arrived on Saturday and it has been torturing me since then! It is a very big box and Marisol and my mom are really really excited about what is inside, so check back to find out what is in the box for little Aubrie!

I am now 18 weeks along. I am feeling good and I have gotten the headaches under control. Now it is just time to work on gaining weight. Milkshakes here I come!

It's A Girl!!!

A week ago we had an ultrasound done and even though I was only 16 weeks along they were able to tell us if we are having a boy or a girl and it's a GIRL! We are very excited and can't wait to meet her in September.

Since we found out that we are having a girl we have been busy shopping; checking out strollers and cribs and all that you need to welcome a baby into the house. It is a little difficult being in Hawaii because there aren't tons of stores to choose from but I think we did pretty good. We found a great stroller at a local baby store and a crib and changing table at Babies' R' Us. After a full day of research and hunting for things we love I got home and got to work on our registries. So many family members kept asking because they are so excited for this little girl to arrive. If anybody is interested in where we registered feel free to ask.

Family and friends have also been asking for some baby bump photos so I finally got around to that this week as well. This is just a test shot so there will be more to come. I will be taking one photo a week so that I can see the progression. This is at 17 weeks (which was Monday) and I feel like over night I doubled in size so next weeks photos should be fun to compare.
Last, I couldn't help but include this adorable photo of my first baby, Kai. She was very intrigued by the camera and wanted to get in on the action.
For now it is just me, Kai and the baby bump. Gil is training on the big island until May. We are trying to stay busy and continue to eat well. We will have another doctors appoint when Gil gets back home. I can't wait to see how much she and myself have grown by then!

Take Care!

Baby D Update

Baby D is about the size of an avocado now!

It just amazes me each week as I read what is going on and how Baby D is developing. This week they say the tiny bones are forming in their ears which means they will start to pick up on your voice. Their taste buds are forming which means they are now tasting what your are eating and most exciting an ultrasound may be able to determine the gender!

We had a doctor's appointment yesterday and I was very happy that Gil was able to go. It makes it more special when he is actually home and able to go through it with me. We got to hear the heartbeat for the first time which was amazing. The midwife said that it is very strong and I should be able to feel Baby D moving soon!

She gave us the paper work to get a more in depth ultrasound done where they will check all of the anatomy of Baby D and make sure everything is developing correctly. On top of that we may be finding out the gender. They were able to fit us in tomorrow! So, we are waking up bright and early for a 7am appointment and hopefully we will come home with a big announcement! We are very excited and can't wait to find out what we are having.

This weekend we will be doing some baby shopping since we will finally know what we are having. I can't wait to start buying little baby things! I bought my first baby onesie this past week. I saw it in a local boutique which is all about organic and natural materials and products and I just couldn't get it out of my mind so I went back the next day and bought it.
Lately I have been feeling really well. Most of the bad symptoms have subsided. I had, had a constant headache since my birthday but in the past few days it has almost completely gone away which is nice. Even better, I am feeling better and Gil is finally home! He got home on Friday from his 5 week mortar school in GA. He is only home for about a week but it is nice either way.

Well check back later this week to find out if we are having a boy or a girl!

7 weeks

As of Wednesday I will be 7 weeks pregnant and Baby Gibby is the size of a blueberry.
We have our first appointment on the 19th and I am very excited about that. I still plan to change from going to the Army hospital to the local hospital in town. It is a lot closer and they have a brand new maternity ward.

I have started to feel pregnant. Most days I don't feel so great but we are getting through it. Mostly eating very bland food like crackers and waffles. I look forward to the day that Gil and I can eat the same meal for dinner, together.

So we decided to give our baby a nickname so we don't call him or her, it for 9 months. In honor of Gil we will be calling baby, Gibby until future notice. It is a name that Gil has used for various things and it just seemed cute and appropriate for the time being.

I had a very nice surprise yesterday when Gil got home. He had a gift for us from our friends, Lane and Genevieve. They had a nice card for us and a book titled The Girlfriends Guide to Pregnancy, Or Everything Your Doctor Won't Tell You. It was a very nice surprise and I look forward to reading it. Gil has already read through the chapter on how to deal with your pregnant woman. It seemed to find most of it funny but he has been really great so far.

Well that is all for now. I look forward to updating again after our doctors appointment.

Baby Appleseed

I found a great article on thebump.com about the size of your baby as it develops and what your baby is up to. I couldn't have found a better reference because they relate the size of your baby to food. I will be referring to this for the next 9 months.

It just fascinates me what is going on inside of me right now.

Right now baby is starting to form major organs like the heart, kidney, liver and stomach. That is just crazy! There is a heart growing inside of me!

I mentioned this to Gil and he said "well, yeah. Didn't you take science in school. It's the miracle of life."

Well, yes I took science and I get all that but it is different when it is happening to YOU! I just think it is the coolest thing!

Two Pink Lines

On January 22, 2010 I nervously took a test and was very happy and relieved to see two pink lines! Almost immediately we called our parents. For mine it was 1 am but my dad was leaving the next day for 5 months and we wanted them to be together when we told them. Next was Gil's parents. We tried over and over again and nobody was home. We finally tried them one last time before we went to bed and they knew right away why we were calling. Both sets of parents or should I say grandparents are very excited.

We knew we wanted to get pregnant and had been trying and this was our last opportunity if we wanted to have Gil home for the birth. We enjoyed the weekend thinking of all that is to come. I of course began researching what week I was in and the development of our little pea; Gil went straight to finances to see what we need to do to be ready.

We didn't want to tell any other friends or family until we got it confirmed by a doctor. We waited 5 long days before we told the rest of our family and close friends. As we expected they are all very excited.

So as you can imagine my mind has had nothing but BABIES on it! All I want to do right now is buy cute little baby things. I am hoping it will wear off so I can get some other things done because right now I don't want to do anything but baby stuff.

That is all for now. I can't wait for week 12 so I can announce it to the rest of the world and by then I will have also had my first doctors appointment!
